Today I’m introducing you to the Brittish composer GéNIA; originally born in the Soviet Union, and now living in London. GéNIA starred playing the piano at the age of 4 and then studied at the Special School for Gifted Children in the Ukraine. Later she went on to get a scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Trinity College of Music. She started making music about eight years ago.
The track Claude was released as a single on the 9th of April, 2021.
Tell us something about your track Claude!
Since the first lockdown, I have started to experiment with the recording process and music production and ‘Claude’ was my first work, as a producer. For the artist like myself this also feels very liberating, as normally our sound is in someone else’s hands from the moment we hit the recording and production studios, which sometimes leads to different expectations. When the sound is in hands of the artist, so the artist records and mixes, I feel that this is far more authentic way and more ‘true’ to the real nature of the artist’s sound. Hence I was pleased that lockdown allowed me to take the time and start learning the craft of the recording and production craft and apply to my compositions.
Thank you very much for the music!
