Spotted: Jacob Trautner – I’m Leaving Today

Today I’m presenting you with the track I’m Leaving Today by the danish composer and piano player Jacob Trautner. Jacob has played the piano for the most part pop his life and in 1998 he graduated from the Royal academy of music in Aarhus.

I love many different kinds of music, but always doing new stuff, I experienced a gradually loss in my own emotional connection to music. I needed to reconnect, and over a couple of years I mainly focused on arranging and composing. I wanted to get back to a more honest and authentic expression. That led to two albums Melancholy and Short Stories.

The track I’m leaving today was released as a single on the 26th of may, 2023.

Tell us something about your track I’m Leaving Today!
I’m Leaving Today, being the second. It’s a simple piano composition that captures the essence of making a tough decision to leave something behind. With a simple melody, this piece takes you through the emotions of sorrow, nostalgia, and hope that come with letting go of a part of your life. It’s a window to our common experience of grappling with change.
I guess I always have been prone to depression and therefore my music also tend to come from a darker place but hopefully reflected in the music in a way that myself and others can use to make peace with these difficult emotions.

Thank you for sharing this with us Jacob!

Tell us something about your track Purpose Within!
The track was composed for a young girl, who had a traumatic experience with someone she perceived to be her friend. The song is supposed to be an accurate representation of what she went through.  Both Sad and hopeful. It’s a way for her to help reflect on her own life and to know that no matter how bad something may be. No matter how dark a person’s story is. It’s cases like this that create beautiful stories that resonate with anyone who’s gone through similar situations.

Thank you very much for this Robert!

    Spotted: YuMe – Chaos

Today I’m introducing you to the dutch piano player and composer YuMe and the track Chaos. YuMe has been one with the piano since “he was 50cm shorter”. YuMe says he “used to focus on “used to focus on playing classical pieces with technical precision, trying to play as many notes as possible in a minute”, but now has his main focus on making more meditative music.

The track Chaos was released as a single on the 12th of may, but will also be part of an upcoming album!

Tell us something about your track Chaos!
“Chaos” is a neoclassical piano track that takes inspiration from the fascinating chaos theory in mathematics. Chaos theory is a branch of mathematics that studies the behavior of complex systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions. These systems exhibit a phenomenon known as the butterfly effect, in which small changes in initial conditions can lead to vastly different outcomes over time. The piano track “Chaos” captures the essence of chaos theory by creating a sense of tranquility and calmness through its peaceful melodies that are answered by delicate arpeggios.

    Thank you for this YuMe!

The track Toledo was released as a single on the 10th of may, 2023, but will also be part of an upcoming album.

Tell us something about your track Toledo!
Toledo was composed, recorded and mixed by myself. It was composed (everything by heart, nothing written yet) at my new (second hand) Petrof upright piano, working for the first time with Sordino, looking at the forest, river and hills. It is my homage to this city, as all the rest of the tracks will be named to other places that are striking me in my new country.

Recording it was tricky: I had the technician come multiple times to eliminate little noises that the piano was making. He called me picky. Very picky. Actually the most picky pianist he’s ever worked with and that I was breaking the piano with all the strong feelings and energy I was pouring into it through my music and fingers.

    I disagreed.

Thank you very much for this Diego!

Tell us something about your track Imagine Dreaming!
My debut album, Stories Of A Forgotten Past, is about telling stories through the piano. As my music doesn’t contain lyrics, I want the individual tracks to have their own unique identity and story behind them. The first track on the album, Imagine Dreaming, is no exception. It sets the tone for the entire album and it was written about the human imagination and how remarkable it is; how we can close our eyes and construct complex scenarios in our mind, and how beautiful those can be. So, if you listen to the track, sit down, close your eyes, and see where your imagination can take you!

    Thank you for this Josh!

    Spotted: Klinger – Labyrinth

Today I’m presenting you with the track Labyrinth by the German composer and piano player Klinger.

After I graduated I played in bands, started producing and composing for other artists. But it was only when my old Steingraeber made it´s way to my new home in Hamburg, when I really started to work with the piano again.

The track Labyrinth was released on the album Mosaik which came out on the 14th of April, 2023.

Tell us something about your track Labyrinth!
I remember thinking a lot about Bach when I wrote this, and about his umatched ability to create something beautiful from a very simple theme that he walks effortlessly through the wildest chords and tonalities. I guess this is my humble attempt to do something similar. I usually don’t write down my music, but in this case I had to. There are so many turns and branches in this piece and if you take the wrong one you end up somewhere else completely. This is also how I came up with the name ‘Labyrinth’.

    Thank you for this Klinger!
