Today I’m presenting you with the track Shilyko by the Finnish composer and piano player Arttu Silvast from the small town Hanko. Arttu started playing the piano at a very young age but the lost interest when he was a teenager. After a couple of years he found his way back.
The track Shilyko is taken from the album ‘Polarity’ which was released on the 1st of April, 2021.
Tell us something about your track Shilyko!
Shilyko was born from a very simple idea which, I have to admit, was first only a technical rehearsal. I first played the notes when testing a new felt fabric on my 1952 Fazer upright. I was mesmerized by the new sound and how the felt didn’t dampen the sound but only made it softer. In Shilyko, you can really sense the overtones vibrating from the 300 kilogram frame of the instrument. Later on, I completed the track and I think it suited the theme of my solo album ‘Polarity’ really well.
Thank you very much for sharing this track with me Arttu!
