Today I’m introducing you to the track Monolopia by the Turkish composer and piano player Kutan Katas, based in Istanbul. Kutan is self taught on the piano and started playing at the age of 14. He started playing with a teacher at the age of six, but got tired of playing music made by others; he wanted to compose!
The track Monolopia was released as a single on the 11th of April, 2022.
Tell us something about your track Monolopia!
This track is about the gorgeous super bloom of the Monolopia flower. Just around mid March, the hills turn a brilliant yellow in California. The sight of this super bloom leaves me speechless every time, but last March I spent an hour just listening to the ambience on the hill and I heard a little melody in my head. I wanted to take an auditory snapshot of the moment, so when I got back to my studio I started working on it immediately. It is a reflection of how I felt in that moment, peaceful and full of hope.
