Today I’m presenting you with the track At the End of Longing by the South Korean piano player and composer Lee Sang Gul. Lee started to play the piano at the age of 11 and started making his own music around the same time. He is currently living in Seoul.
I’m working as a minimum-wage laborer in South Korea and have been losing my passion for music due to difficult circumstances. I only learned piano as a child and never formally studied music. I tried to make money through my music, but it didn’t bring in any significant income, and I felt like my music had no value.
The track At the End of Longing was released as a single on the 10th of June, 2025.
Tell us something about the track At the End of Longing!
She was my piano teacher, my muse, and the one who truly understood my music.
Though she was younger than me, her piano playing was astonishingly brilliant, and she generously offered advice on my compositions.
But three years ago, we had a serious falling out—and from that day on, she disappeared from my life completely.
Since then, I’ve missed her every single day, but in my current, humbled state, I lost the courage to approach her again.
The hope of meeting her once more slowly turned into despair, and all that remained was a deep, unshakable sadness.
That’s why my piece “At the End of Longing” carries such sorrowful emotion. Every note is filled with that sense of loss and longing.
