Today I’m introducing you to the composer and piano player Meg Blumberg from Tampa Bay in the United States. Meg got interested with music in her early years and started taking piano lessons in her early teens. In her late teens she started composing piano nocturne and discovered her love for Moderna Classical and Minimalism.
This track is taken from the EP with the same name, and came out on may 7th, 2021.
Tell us something about your track Extant!
With Extant, the piano is at the forefront, both tranquil and minimalist, but also telling a deeper story. I can’t tell you how long I’ve been wanting to share this collection of pieces. I wrote these during a difficult phase of my life when I was struggling with health issues that at times left me unable to even sit at the piano to play. The piano had always been my lifeline and my form of self-expression, so during the moments I could play, I poured everything into these pieces. They are a tribute to who I used to be, who I’ve become, and who I’m determined to be in the future.
The album lets you in with an unfiltered sound, allowing you to hear every tone and movement intimately, as though you are in the room next to her as she plays on her upright piano. Let it transport you to a calmer place.
Thank you Meg for this track!
