Spotted: Nathanial Zakovich – Anna’s Lullaby

Today I’m presenting you with the track Anna’s Lullaby by the American composer and piano player Nathanial Zakovich. Nathanial started playing the flute at the age of seven. He then want on to learn a variety of other instruments, including piano at the age of 14.

The track Anna’s Lullaby was released on the EP Eulogy for a Young Musician which came out on the 27th of December, 2021.

Tell us something about your track Anna’s Lullaby!
This track took me over a year to write. I was never able to find the perfect sound or melody that I was looking for. I had the first half of the track written but was never able to complete it. One day when I was attempting to record the first half, I just kept going and improvised the second half of it on the spot. When I was done and played it back, I liked what I heard and just decided to leave it at that. This track, and the EP that it’s from, is inspired by a girl I went to highschool with. I was the 4th char flute in the school’s wind ensemble, Anna was the first chair. She was an incredibly talented flutist who I greatly looked up to and respected. Sadly, she passed away a few years ago from bone cancer. I guess, in a way, this EP is my way of paying my respects and how I choose to remember her.

Thank you for this Nathanial!
