Today I’m introducing you to the track Wooden Birds by the Australian composer and piano player Tom Odrowaz aka. Them Antoni, based in Melbourne. Tom started to play the piano at the age of five and “fell in and out of love with it” over the years. Two years ago he began composing and learning music production, and this track is his first release!
The track Wooden Birds was released as a single on the 2nd of august, 2023.
Tell us something about your track Wooden Birds!
I wrote this song in a time of increasing uncertainty, fuelled partly by rapid advances in AI development and what they might mean for our future as a species. The photograph on the cover was taken by my cousin Jan. It inspired the piece and represents navigating an increasingly artificial world by chasing feeling, colour and beauty. To me, at the time, that could becaptured through the sound of something beautifully real, like a warm felted piano recorded to tape.
