2020 was a difficult year for all people; a raging pandemic that killed 2.3 million people, unprecedented wildfires in California and Australia, a huge blast in Beirut that destroyed half the city, and racial tensions everywhere. The Hope piano compilation album was born of the idea to bring together 12 well-established pianists from across the globe and spread a message of hope through music, each in his own way. – Jean-Paul Zoghbi
Today I’m introducing you to the composer and piano player Bart Sunshine and the track Truth (Es Verda). Bart started to play the piano at the age of five and inherited her interest in music by her father; who was also her piano teacher.
My work as a therapist has become a prime source of inspiration. Through my music I found a way of expressing emotions and awakening them in others, which is another beautiful and creative way of doing therapy.
Nostalgia was released as a single on March 12, an is also a part of the album “HOPE”.
Tell us something about your track Truth (Es Verda)!
When I was asked to talk about how terrible 2020 was and therefore create a story about hope, I thought: there is nothing wrong with this crisis. Crisis can bring very strong learning and perhaps for me, the experience of this crisis has been governed by one word: TRUTH. It’s the same thing I feel when I look out over the cliff of Es Vedrá, here in Ibiza, where I live. A deep sense of respect and truth.
