Today I’m presenting you with another track by the composer and piano player Frank DeLange, which you can read everything about here! Frank comes from The Netherlands and has even a professional piano player since the age of 17.
At the age of 46, I felt that the echoes of my classical and jazz upbringing needed to be expressed. So I started to compose my own pianosolo works, with just myself as an audience. During that process I noticed that these pieces fitted me like a glove and also that they started to resonate with people. More than all of my previous works combined. It was around the same time I discovered my ability to hear sound in colours. A condition called Chromesthesia, or sound-to-colour Synesthesia. For me, it has always been natural to picture sounds in my mind, but now I could take advantage of it and compose music as a painter works on a painting: with shapes and colours playing the leading part.
The track Contemplation No. 2 was released as a single on the 17th of December, 2021, but will also be part of an album in 2022.
Tell us something about your track Contemplation No, 2!
In my opinion, we all need time to ponder in our lives, but rarely take the time to contemplate. A while ago I decided to secure my own pondering time and keep a diary in the form of musical phrases that reflect the emotions of that day. Recorded in my living room at my upright piano. Each night a small time-space oasis to reflect on past events and to escape the immediate surroundings.
Thanks for this Frank!
