Spotted: Kevin Kerrigan – Imperfections

It has been some time since I wrote about a new track by the British composer Kevin Kerrigan, but now the day has come! Today I present you with the track Imperfections. To know everything about Kevin, you should click on his name just above this line to read the Behind the piano post.

The track Imperfections was released as a single on the 1st of February, 2021.

Tell us something about your track Imperfections!
This new piece, Imperfections was composed like all of my piano works
as a late night improvisation (when my logical brain is asleep).  The
morning after I noticed the recording
equipment was crackling and fizzing like an old gramophone and the
recording was imperfect.  It got me thinking how with modern computer
music technology us musicians
obsess about ‘perfection’ and editing the life out of things.  I
actually quite like the imperfections.  We humans are imperfect,  so
our music should be too.  I wonder if we hide
behind ‘perfection’ (much like people use instagram filters etc) to
hide our true selves because we feel vunerable… hmm

Thank you Kevin!
