Spotted: Magdi Aboul-Kheir – In Resonance

Today I’m presenting you with a new track by German-based composer and pianist Magdi Aboul-Kheir. Magdi learned to play the piano as a teenager and later studied musicology. He spent many years of his professional life as a cultural editor, writing about music, but it wasn’t until his 50s that he started releasing music of his own.

His musical interests range from minimal music, chamber and orchestral works to pop and jazz-inflected instrumentals, ambient music, and vintage electronic sounds. A pianist by training, he composes guided by emotion as much as by craft, with a strong focus on melody and expressive, accessible music regardless of genre.

The track In Resonance will be featured on the upcoming album The Inner Landscape, set to be released later this year. Magdi has previously released two albums in a similar style, The Piano Has Been Dreaming and One Last Dance.

Tell us something about your track In Resonance!
In Resonance is about how people can resonate with one another when they feel close. In the composition, the felt pianos and the grand piano resonate with each other in much the same way.

Thank you for this Magdi!
