Today I’m introducing you to the German piano player and composer Sebastian Schütze, born and raised in Leipzig but now working from Berlin. His passion for music developed from a young age and his main instruments has always been upright bass, guitar and the piano. Piano has always been his instrument of choice when it comes to composing.
The track Waves was released as a single on the 12th of April, 2024, but will be part of an EP later on.
Tell us something about your track Waves!
Like all the other tracks on this EP, it expresses its musical essence without any unnecessary information or distractions. The central idea of “Waves” lies in its opening chord, which sounds longing yet hopeful, and to me, evokes a sense of nostalgia. From there, the piece unfolds gradually with colorful harmonic changes, combined with a rhythm reminiscent of the movement of waves. This is also where the piece gets its name.
