Today Iämn introducing you to the American composer and piano player Starr Parodi from California, USA. Starr lives in Los Angeles and started playing the piano at the age of 14.
I played keyboards in the house band of the hit late night talk show “The Arsenio Hall Show”, and was so fortunate to be able to play with many of my musical heroes including Carole King (who I recorded with a piano duet with), Ray Charles, BB King, Phil Collins, Whitney Houston and many others during the course of that show and beyond.
The track I Sama Bili was released as a single on the 18th of September, 2020.
Tell us something about your track I Sama Bili!
The name of this piece, “I Sama Bili”, translates to mean “in this very moment”. When I compose music for films I will often treat or prepare my Steinway piano with different types of fabric, felt or other items to give the piano a darker, more harmonically complex and intimate sound. It also exposes the sound of the inner workings of the instrument and illuminates the sound of the moving wood, felt and metal. As I was recording this piece I felt like time was suspended.
