Spotted: April Chung – Before Everything Begins

Today I’m introducing you to the track Before Everything Begins by the Taiwanese composer and piano player April Chung. April is now located in Amsterdam in The Netherlands. She started playing the piano at the age of four and started composing at the age of ten. Later she took a break from composing while focusing on performing but picked up composing again a couple of years ago.

The track Before Everything Begins was released as a single on the 25th of February, but will also be part of an EP later on.

Tell us something about your track Before Everything Begins!
It is about an image of small water waves in The Netherlands, especially when the breeze comes to the canals.

The piece is inspired by J.S Bach -the first piece of the Well-Tempered Clavier, volume one. As I am a big fan of J.S. Bach, I feel I am going back to the very beginning of everything for inspiration, which Chopin did as well for his first prelude of the 24 Preludes op. 28.””

A fun fact about this track: Unlike most of my other works that take a few days/ few weeks to finish up, I composed this one in an hour as if it was eager to express itself.

Thank you for this April!
