Today I’m presenting you with the track Kannyiri from the composer and piano player Emmanuel Songsore, originally from Ghana but now located in Canada. Emmanuel is also an academic and holds a PhD in Geography.
The track Kannyiri was released as a single on the 13th of august, 2022.
Tell us something about your track Kannyiri!
Kannyiri is the Dagaare word for patience. Dagaare is an indiengenouse Ghanaian language spoken by my tribe, a small population in the Upper West Region of Ghana. The track Kannyiri is a soft and gentle piece that is meant to evoke feelings of patience. The composition was completely spontaneous and took one take on the piano. I sat in front of the piano, reflected deeply on patience as a virtue, and went ahead to play. The song is a result of that process.
