Today, I’m presenting you with the track aswan by the Cuban-american composer Isa Vidal, based in Los Angeles. Isa have been composing for about two years, and this is her first solo piano piece, and even the first piece released as a solo artist!
The track aswan was released as a single on the 31st of December, 2020.
Tell us something about your track aswan!
I wrote this piece in honor of my grandmother and also in part about a trip we took in 2011 to Egypt. She and I were incredibly close, and I’ve found over the 6 years since she’s passed that grief never really goes away. Rather, it ebbs and flows. Sometimes it feels melancholic and sometimes it feels beautiful, but regardless expressing the immensity of love we shared has always been able to help soften the loss. I tried to encapsulate these ideas into my piece, and offer some tranquility, sonically, for others as well.
