Today I’m introducing you to Danish composer, songwriter, pianist and synthesizer player Kasper Staub from Aarhus. Kasper is currently most active in the upcoming indie quintet Lowly who released the EP ‘Sink Way Into Me’ in 2015 and now working on their debut album for international label Bella Union.
The song Lent is taken from Kaspers second album called 9 Movements which was released late august of 2019.
Tell us something about your track Lent!
I really wanted to write something very repetitive and simple – something that could just be repeated over and over again without any major changes in the arrangement. It happens so rarely, but I think I succeeded with Lent 🙂 I recorded it on my late grandmothers Hindsberg grand piano through an old tape echo machine, and even recorded the noise from the tape itself. The composition is actually some years old, and every time I’ve been playing it at concerts, it sets the audience as well as myself in a very meditative and contemplating state, which I love.
Thank you for this Kasper!
