Tell us something about your track Zwischen (in between)!
This gentle solo piano piece is a fond memory from my childhood of a distant hazy late summer afternoon. I recall climbing into the old hammock in the dappled shade of our garden as the sun streamed through the tree canopy above. I felt safe and cocooned in the fabric, and was taken by its gentle sway in the cooling breeze. Suffused by the heady scent of Gardenia, interwoven with soothing whispers from nature in the garden around me and the lulling peel from church bells in the far distance. Peacefully, I drifted in between wake and sleep.Thank you very much for this Mykl!

Woolgathering is a relaxing, peaceful piano piece that – as the name suggests – is about daydreaming and indulging in aimless thoughts. Spotted: Ola Jacobsen – Celeste

Tell us something about your track Celeste!
Celeste is a delicate, reflective, and somehow compassionate piece. It is a hopeful one too, and it conveys a message for everyone: ‘No matter what’s going on in your life, everything fades. It will be alright in the end’. The compositional process started with a simple motive, and then Ola’s natural melodic optimism took it from there. The B section is an attempt to create some contrast and surprise, and introduce some conflict into the composition, which will be resolved in the re-exposition at the end.Thank you very much for this Ola!

Tell us something about your track Above the sea!
I wanted to compose a calm and relaxing, almost meditative track. So I sat down and tried to play what I felt. A calm track must sound “easy”, but at the same time, the musical idea of the composition must have something unique, something special. I hope that ABOVE THE SEA catches the listener from the first note with its emotional intensity and fluency.Thank you for this Christian!

Spotted: Ros Gilman – Sadness
Today I’m presenting you with the track Sadness by the British-German composer and piano player Ros Gilman. Ros is originally a concert violinist but his career as a violin player came to an abrupt end when he suffered a hand injury. Today he mainly writes film music and contemporary classical pieces.
The track Sadness was released as a single on the 31st of march 2023.
Tell us something about your track Sadness!
Sadness comes with an interesting backstory: the piece was originally written as part of a music pitch for Tony Kaye’s film Detachment. The opportunity to pitch for this fantastic project came in just as I was on holiday in Istanbul, Turkey. All I had with me was my laptop, so in order to make it possible for me to produce the music I tracked down a local music production shop and purchased a small midi-keyboard (which I still have to this day). Ultimately, what was supposed to be a holiday, turned out to be a day-long writing and music production session. The pitch was sadly unsuccessful, but I was rather fond of one of the pieces I wrote for it. Many years later, the piece came back to me and I decided to re-arrange it in a contemporary “neo-classical” manner for solo piano. This is how this release came to be.Thank you very much for this Ros!
